Introduction
In this blog post I will talk about how Sabatino Mangini use different techniques to keep the class engaged. One in particular that I will be talking about are watching a documentary, playing game shows, and reading short stories. I will show how each one was different, and what was the focus of them. Each english composition class was made interesting by Professor Mangini. We always has the same process but each was made different by the tools we use to help write our blog post. Three different ways Mangini kept the class intreguited was watching a documentary and reflecting on it. Also playing game shows and reading short stories and reflecting on them in our blogs. There was never a moment that the same process got boring because we were always provided with different themes to reflect on. One way Mangini kept the class intrigued was by making us watch the documentary Where to Invade Next. When first asked to watch the documentary I procrastinated only because most documentaries I was ever told to watch were so boring. Surprisingly, I was fascinated about this one. It was about a man named Michael Moore who traveled all of the world to different countries to bring ideas backs to America. For more information on this documentary see this blog post: Summary of Where to Invade Next. We took this process all the way from a blog post to a final assignment. Mangini turned this documentary into a source for our research paper. It was interesting how far we were able to come with this documentary. Another way Mangini created communication throughout our peers was our in class game shows. Not only were these game shows played to have some fun, but to also learn and communicate with our classmates. The game shows help me engage in the class. We would talk about the themes and motifs of the class. Also, this such as genre and scenes. I would encourage this learning technique to all teachers, and for students to really get involved because it's a great way to learn while having fun. A big part of the this english composition class was reading short stories and writing blog post with questions asked by Mangini to reflect. We read short stories such as: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, Hill like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, My Name is Margaret by Maya Angelou, and many more. When we read this short stories I would write notes on each and that would help me write my blog post in more detail. As much as I'm not to interested in reading the stories Mangini gave us to read were interesting and I liked how they all were stories where you really had to think about what the author was trying to get across. The focus of writing blog post on these stories was to be able to think about the stories and reflect on the life choices. The stories we read helped us write our life choice memoir, and help me find a topic I wanted to write about. Each of these techniques of teaching kept me thinking, and inspired my blog post. The class was not a regular english class that uses grammar books and reading textbooks. It was enjoyable and intriguing the way the class was talked. It was definitely a great experience, and the processes of writing that I learned I will keep with me forever.

Introduction In this blog post I will be comparing doing work and meeting deadlines on an online portfolio to written homework. I will be giving my opinion on what I think is more efficient. This will give you an understanding about my website, and if this should be the future for school work. This post will reflect on the positives of online portfolios, and the negatives of written work. For this English Composition I class we are required to have an online portfolio where we post all of our work. Like any class you are required to meet deadlines on informal and formal assignments. Also, you are required to put effort into the assignments and revise them when needed. We are also told to give feedback to our peers by commenting on their blogs, and being active on our sites. The only thing different about meeting these requirements were they were all to be done on our own individual website.
When first told we were going to create an online portfolio where we would post all of our work I was interested, but also worried that it would be complicated. My professor Mangini helped in class setting up our websites making them our own. Each website has a homepage, about page, midterm/final assignment page, contact and blog page. Each page contains informative information. After being taught how to use the site I noticed this idea of an online portfolio wasn’t such a bad idea after all. An online portfolio is the future. I was able to meet the requirements of the class. I personally rather type than write. Posting blogs on our personal websites is important because our work will never disappear. We will always be able to revisit our sites and even keep them going. By writing blog post on each assignment given there was never a chance to lose the assignment you either submitted it online or didn’t. It was also a very good way to interact with other classmates by commenting on each others blogs providing feedback. Keeping our sites organized was better than having to keep a bunch of papers stuffed in folders, and being lost. For someone that never blogged before I really enjoyed the experience, and would definitely recommend it to other professors for a new intriguing way to hand assignments in. Written homework is something almost everyone has experienced. Usually when given homework by a professor it is due written on paper and handed in. The problem with this is that having loose papers of work can be lost easily. Also, someone can say they left the assignment at home when really they just didn’t do it. Written homework doesn’t give students the opportunity to give each other feedback. Written homework can also be hard for the professor to read if the student has messy handwriting. This can cause the professor to give the student a bad grade because they cannot understand the writing. After being returned the work it's shoved in a folder and forgotten about. You can never look at work that has been misplaced. This is why online portfolios benefits student because they can always look back at old work and build from it. My overall experience of online blogging has been terrific. Even though in the beginning I was doubtful of this process I am happy I was able to enjoy it. I definitely will be revisiting my site after this class, and maybe even keep on blogging and revising! Introduction
This blog post will be about Professor Sabatino Mangini’s way to to make meaning of what you are writing, and the best way of writing is revising to make meaning to your work. I will explain how Sabatino taught us how to make meaning of our writing, and how this process worked for me. Also, I will provide how the statement “Make Meaning” can be taken from class and used in the outside world. Since the first day of class Mangini has exclaimed to us “Make Meaning.” Whether it is our blog post or formal assignments there is always a process. Mangini always states that this class isn’t a transaction. There was never an assignment where Mangini expected us to write a paper, hand it in, and be graded. He taught that writing is a process. First by getting everything down on paper. Next, rewriting the first draft and making it stronger. Mangini would sit down with each student individually to give pointers on how to revise and make the paper stronger than the second draft. What I am trying to say is that Mangini never expected finish product, because writing is a process. He told us that it's ok to struggle, and have writers block, and write “shitty first drafts as long as you are productive in your work. This process is to make meaning of what your trying to produce and it’s not going be perfect the first, second or even third time you write it, but by revising it as many times as you need shows that you care about the process of making something great! Not being graded as soon as I wrote a paper was very helpful to me. Being able to revise my work and get pointers to show me where I went wrong showed me the meaning of writing. In english class in high school we were always given an assignment and expected to turn it in with no revisions which always was a struggle for me because I was never a good writer. Coming into this college english composition I class I was scared that it would be the same process as high school, but it wasn’t. The experience of Sabatino’s process of making meaning made this class not stressful and enjoyable. I was able to make mistakes, struggle, and revise. By never being expected to have a perfect paper made the writing process exciting. I was able to explore different ways of writing such as when I like writing best, and words I like to use when writing. I am very thankful to have such an experience, and I will take the information I learned with me through life. Make meaning, is what Mangini told us to do in our writings, but we can also take this short statement outside of writing. This statement can be used in everyday life. You can make meaning out of everyday actions. Not only writing is a process, but so is life. In life you grow and your opinion changes and that's a growing process. Also, life is just like writing a paper every day you get the chance to start over. When you write a paper you also get that chance to revise it just like you get the opportunity to revise you actions and way of life. I will take the short statement of “make meaning” with me because I have also learned that through writing everyday is a new start, and everyday you should try and make meaning of it.

In this blog post I will be reflecting on my research paper. To help me understand how to write a reflection I watched the video Reflective Writing. I will be providing thoughtful answers to the questions below on my writing process. Enjoy! Who did you work with to compose your research paper? Was this a good approach? To write this research paper I worked by myself using the film Where To Invade Next and other research on legalizing drugs in America. I do think this was a good approach for me because I was able to get a better understanding of why drugs should be legal in the United States. What rhetorical mode and genre are you using? The rhetorical mode of this research paper is argumentative. The genre used is MLA Research Paper. When did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project at night time after work. By the time I got home from work I really didn’t feel like writing the paper, but it was the only time I had. It wasn’t a good approach for me because I usually write in the morning when I have the most motivation. Next time I will definitely find the time to write the project earlier in the day. Where did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project on my couch in my basement. This was a good approach for me because it is quite and I can’t hear my family talking or my dogs barking. I was able to focus and not be distracted while writing this project. Why did you choose to write about your chosen topic? Good choice? I chose this topic because I thought it was interesting how in the film Where To Invade Next Michael Moore sat dog with a recovering addict who viewed not only drugs as an addiction. The recovering addict explained that no one gets sent to prison that's addicted to technology, sex, and something as little as sugar. That stood out to me that it's someone's free choice to do drugs. I do think this is a good topic because it covers so much ground. Along my research I found more reasons why drugs should be decriminalized which helped my process even more. How did it feel to write this argument ("during, after, and since")? Do you have any "if only" moments that can help you revise the draft? When writing my argument I didn’t feel like I had a good thesis statement to write off of. It was hard for me to put the information I gathered together. After writing my first draft of my research paper I was relieved because I had the information down and I would be able to revise it. Since I wrote my research paper and have a structured thesis statement I have been revising and making my paper stroger. The only “if only” moment I had was a better thesis statement, but now since I have that I am right on track. How will you revise your argument? I will revise my argument by having a more structured paper. My thesis statement has a better understanding and leads me in the right direction to have a strong paper. At first my research was all over the pace but I am gathering my information and putting them in sections to talk about in order. This will help me and my readers have better understanding of what I am trying to argue and persuade to my reader.

This blog post will be my annotated bibliography on drug usage in America. My research question is; In America should drug usage be a crime? My argument; Is America making a good choice by keeping most drugs illegal? This annotated bibliography will supply information for my research paper that I am going to write. Topic: Drug usage in America Research Question: In America should drug usage be a crime? Argument: Is America making a good choice by keeping most drugs illegal? Will, George F. “Should the U.S. legalize hard drugs?” The Washington Post, WP Company, 11 Apr. 2012 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/should-the-us-legalize-hard-drugs/2012/04/11/gIQAX95QBT_story.html?utm_term=.59c54e352e8f George Wills states that American’s are imprisoned more for drug offenses than other crimes. Forty-six percent of America’s criminals are imprisoned because of drugs. The prices of drugs cost is at an all time low. Buying $200.00 worth of drugs cost society $100,000 for a three-year sentence. Dealers have nothing to do with initiating drug use of future addicts. Almost every user starts when given drugs by a friend, sibling or acquaintance. While drug users can spend anywhere from $120.00 to $550.00 for two grams of cocaine they can spend anywhere from a few months behind bars to a few years. Which cost the state anywhere from $20,000 to $60,000 a year for one inmate. Is the justice system benefiting from this? Well yes and no, as it’s taking distributors, users, and growers off the street and giving jobs to many people in the justice system which is good. It is also using tax money for the inmates to survive behind bars. Drugs can be very dangerous but also helpful. Some drugs are accepted in our society today such as Advil and Tums well as others are frowned upon such as Heroin and Cocaine. It is almost silly to me to imprison these people when we live in a free country and it should be their choice. Also we lose money when we imprison them. We should be using that money for other things such as making more jobs and research for cures. In my opinion America is making the wrong choice by having most drugs illegal. Commentary. “The economic case for the US to legalize all drugs.” Quartz, Quartz, 7 June 2013 https://qz.com/91642/the-economic-case-for-the-us-to-legalize-all-drugs/ America spends more than $40 billion each year on drug prohibition. The more drug prohibition that is enforced the more violence there is. Regulations can be set on drugs to ensure safety for the drug user. Drug laws make users scared to get help which leads to addiction. Money spent on keeping drugs illegal would be more beneficial putting the cost somewhere else. The United States will benefit from bringing the drug trade out from the underground world. One way is it will create jobs in dispensaries and also give farmers opportunities to grow the drugs. With 46% incarcerated because of drugs it will put millions of people back on the street with most not knowing where to go but with these jobs we can help them and educate them in their addiction while making money. This means everyone is happy. Once again our justice system is making the wrong choice by keeping most drugs illegal in my opinion. There is so many opportunities to get citizens back on their feet with good paying jobs. We can also put tax on the drugs which is another way to benefit the system. People make choices all the time whether or not to do drugs and it should be their choice as an American citizen in my opinion. “Could Legalizing All Drugs Solve America's Opioid Epidemic?” Google, Google https://www.google.com/amp/amp.timeinc.net/fortune/2017/09/19/jeff-sessions-opioid-epidemic-legalize-all-drugs A prime example of legalizing drugs is Portugal. They decriminalized all drugs in 2001. Instead of facing jail time drug users if caught must meet with medical experts, social workers, and physiologists who assess their situation and direct them toward treatment and rehabilitation. The result of this caused drug use to decline. The number of people arrested for criminal drug offenses has declined 60%. This allows Portugal to have money once spent on arresting and imprisoning addicts towards more efficient programs. The panel can suspend proceedings for first-time offenders. They can also issue fines for repeating offenders, and if necessary they will force addicts into treatment that fits them. Our Justice system is only making it worse. People are getting smarter at covering their tracks with encrypted messages and ways to get around the law. Even paying cops off to be outlaws. Our justice system makes people sneaky when we can help and get the them on the right track. Portugal’s system is obviously working because crime rate has gone down such as drug use and people are getting the help they need. I don’t understand after seeing another system work and ours fail why not switch. Twelve Reasons To Legalize Drugs http://www.druglibrary.org/think/~jnr/12reason.htm Drug distribution today lacks many of the consumer safety features common to other markets: instruction sheets, warning labels, product quality control, manufacturer accountability. Over the counter drugs such as aspirin can be as dangerous as any illegal drug if not taken properly. Drug dealers don't provide labels or instructions, let alone mailing addresses. The illegal nature of the business makes these things seem unnecessary. After legalization, pharmaceutical companies could safely try to win each other's customers or guard against liability suits with better information and more reliable products. Customers will know what they are getting, what is does, and how much to take safely with a label. Information is the best protection against the potential hazards of drugs or any other product. Legalizing drugs would promote consumer health and safety. It may sound crazy but if America legalized drugs it would give the user more knowledge about what they are taking. They would know the symptoms to look out for so they could get help immediately if needed. People in America could be getting the wrong drug or something that is laced that could potentially make someone sick, hurt,or even death could be a cause. If America legalized drugs it would drop the rate of overdoses big time because people would know what they are getting. Also it would be the purist drug they could get and they would know how much to take of it. To me saving lives because of the legalization of drugs is a no brainer to me. With all these positives I don’t know why America wouldn’t legalize drugs. Johnson, Gary E. "Drugs Should Be Made Controlled Substances." Legalizing Drugs, edited by Louise I. Gerdes, Greenhaven Press, 2001. At Issue. Opposing Viewpoints in Context, libdb.dccc.edu/login?url=http://link.galegroup.com/apps/doc/EJ3010018209/OVIC?u=pa_de_ccc&xid=8a8b223d. Accessed 16 Nov. 2017. Originally published as "speech before the Cato Institute," 1999. If drugs were legalized the number of deaths would go away. Deaths from drugs would no longer be accidental . Legalizing drugs will cause them to be controlled substances, and would be properly controlled. Drugs needs to be a controlled substance just like alcohol. By letting the government manufacture the drugs, distribute and market them would decrease drug use better than sending someone to prison. To get legal drugs, you must walk into a pharmacy and show identification. It's the difference between a controlled substance and an illegal substance. Many people have made the poor decision of using drugs but that does not mean they belong behind bars. Like alcohol and tobacco, drugs cause deaths also but people are not put in prison because of them. Money that is spent on the war on drugs would be better spent on regulating, taxing, and controlling the $400-billion per year drug industry. New drug laws will have to be set instead of just sending someone to prison. By setting new laws in place on drugs will provide the country with more money. This is because instead of putting someone away and taxes going to prison the state can regulate drugs and put a tax on them. This will be beneficial and it would be harder to receive drugs. By making it harder to get drugs less people would do them. Drugs need to be harder to get hands on and the government's support that could be a possibility.

In this blog post I will be selecting three different topics from the documentary Where to Invade Next. To find out what this film is about look at my Summary of Where to Invade Next. The topics I choose in this blog post will create research question and argument for a research paper I will be doing soon. Topic: Prison systems in America Research Question: Should America have a different prison system, and provide more love and care for inmates? Argument: America should provide a prison system for rehabilitation not criminalization because 80% of Americans are rearrested and in Norway only 20% are rearrested. Topic: Drug usage in America Research Question: In America should drug usage be a crime? Argument: America should decriminalize drugs because drug usage went down in Portugal after not considering it a crime. Topic: Obesity in America Research Question: Should school lunches be more about nutrition, and etiquette? Argument: America should provide better lunches for children because it will provide good nutrition and lessen obesity across the nation.

In this blog post I will summarize the film Where to Invade Next. In this Film Michael Moore travels to all different countries to bring back ideas to the states. Along his journey he found ways to better America, and met and talked to many people. This film showed how America is much different from the rest of the world. In the documentary Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore traveled to many countries such as France, Finland, Slovenia, Italy, Iceland, Tunisia, Norway, Portugal, and Germany. Along his journey subjects such as education, sex, equality, health care, prison systems, vacation time, work, and decriminalization of drugs were talked about. In his journey he realized the American dream was lived everywhere but in America. In Italy numerous weeks of paid vacation is given to employees for their honeymoon. Also, mothers receive five months of paid maternity leave to spend time and raise their child. The employers say it’s a reward for the work of the employees. By paying a good wage and good benefits the company still made wealthy profit. In America there is zero paid weeks of vacation, and Italy is still more productive than America with this method. In France the mayor cares about what the children eat for lunch. They receive an hour lunch that includes lots of water, and a four-course meal. Lunchtime is considered a class in France and a way of learning good nutrition and proper educate. France spends less on lunch than the United States. Also in France sex Ed is thought differently than in America. Americans are told to practice absence, but in France they are taught love and contraception, and learning the risk. Students in Finland are ranked number one as Americans are ranked at number twenty-nine. Finland requires twenty hours a week of school and no homework. It is also illegal to charge tuition in Finland. They believe that there is much more to life than school and those children should enjoy life by having time to play and giving the brain a break. In Slovenia no college student is left in debt. College is free in Slovenia. German workers get paid for forty hours a week when they only work thirty-six hours. To prevent sickness any stressed German can get their doctor to write a prescription to go to a three-week spa. Companies in Germany believe the key to success is to ask employees their opinions and peruse them. It is against the law in Germany to contact an employee on vacation or when hey are not working. To better their country they stand up for what they did and grow from it and they acknowledge the dark side and make amends for it. Portugal doesn’t arrest people for drugs, and using drugs is not a crime. By decriminalizing drugs the drug usage went down. Norway’s prison system works different than Americas. Their prison is used to rehabilitation not for criminalization. There are four unarmed guards for one hundred and fifteen inmates. Prisoners have their own rooms, and bathrooms. They have Xbox, a library, and recording studio. The longest prison sentence is twenty-one years. Tunisia have free government funded women’s clinic, and women have control over their own bodies. Iceland was the first country to elect a female president. Men and women are equal. Michael Moore realizes that all these ideas were America’s and they were put into an American lost and found.
Introduction
This blog post will be a reflection of my life-choice memoir first draft. Before doing my reflection I watched this video Reflective Writing. The video decided what reflective writing is and how it should be accomplished. I will be answering the questions below on the process of my first draft. Who did you work with to compose your life-choice memoir? Was this a good approach? In my life-choice memoir I worked mainly with myself and the memory of the incident. I also went to my mom about somethings just to make sure I was being exact. This approach worked for me. I was able to tell the story with no gaps which will help when I go back and revise. I say this will help having so much information because I can take out information that really is not needed. What rhetorical mode and genre are you using? The rhetorical mode used in my story is narration. The genre of my story is creative nonfiction. When did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project in class on Tuesday October 3, and Thursday October 5. I also worked on this project at my house. I took my laptop, and a cup of coffee outside and typed away sitting on my porch. This was a good approach for me because the in class sessions gave me the ability to ask questions if needed. Sitting outside was very relaxing and I was able to think clearly. Where did you write this project? Good approach? I wrote this project in class and at home. I felt like the in class time I was more successful and I got a lot more done. I think the in class time was the best approach for me because there was less distractions for me then being at home. Why did you choose to write about your chosen topic? Good choice? I chose the topic about me finding out I had a heart murmur because it was a crazy turn for me. When told that I would have to chose a life choice it was hard for me to think of an idea. After thinking about my topic for a while I thought this time in particular would be best because there’s a lot of information for me to grab from. At the moment I think this was a good choice for me to write about this topic. How did it feel to write this narrative ("during, after, and since")? Do you have any "if only" moments that can help you revise the draft? Writing this narrative is like reliving the moment. When writing about my topic I didn’t realize I would actually remember everything that happened like it was yesterday but I did. After writing my first draft It was almost a relief that I got it all down on paper. Since I writing it I feel thankful that the situation worked out the way it did but I also wish I came out about it sooner! How will you revise your narrative? I will revise my narrative not only in class writing sessions but also at home. I will focus on getting to the point faster and taking out some information that isn’t necessary. I also plan to start my narrative in a different scene. I would like to be descriptive and add more dialogue into my narrative.

In this post I read and annotated The Lottery (Shirley Jackson). This story was about a town in 1948 that had a tradition of “The Lottery” each year. The Lottery was when everyone in the town gathered to pick out of a worn black box. Inside the box was papers and there was one peice of paper that has a black dot on it. Tessie Hutchinson picked out the paper with the black dot. She proceeded to the middle of the circle and was stoned to death by the crowd. In this post I will answer the questions: Are there any American traditions that share similarities with the lottery tradition in the village? When have you made an important choice to break away or not break away from a strong cultural tradition you shared with a family, friend, or culture? Are there any American traditions that share similarities with the lottery tradition in the village? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/12/us/charlottesville-protest-white-nationalist.html A tradition in America that has similarities with the lottery tradition would be the right to protest. The First Amendment gives Americans the right of the people to peaceably assemble. Unfortunately almost every protest turns violent. A protest in August of 2017 turned violent when a white nationalists and counter protesters clashed in one of the bloodiest fights to date over the removal of Confederate monuments across the South. This rally caused the governor to declare a state of emergency and the National Guard to join the police in clearing the area. As the area began to clear a car plowed into a crowd killing a woman and injuring 34 others. This tradition in America to protest when something wrong is similar to The Lottery because the people of the town traditionally did this even every year as Americans protest whenever something they don’t agree with is going on. Both events sadly caused a death of an innocent individual. When have you made an important choice to break away or not break away from a strong cultural tradition you shared with a family, friend, or culture? From the time I was born till about the age of seven my entire family would gather in South Philly at my great grandparents house for New Year's Day. They lived right off of 2nd Street which was convenient because of the Mummers Parade. We would head down bright and early to make sure we got a parking spot right under 95. I always couldn’t wait for this day. The adults would drink and the kids would wait for the string bands to march down second street. My great grandparents would cook kaboski and sauerkraut, hot dogs, and delicious homemade vegetable soup. As they got older the tradition began to slowly stop. My great grandparents passed away and there was no longer a spot for my whole family to go. The tradition stopped, and now that it's over I either go with friends or watch the parade on TV, but nothing will ever be the same New Year's Day!

In this blog post I will write about Hills Like White Elephants (Ernest Hemingway). This story was about a couple sitting at a bar at the train station. They talked about the girl being pregnant and whether or not she would have the baby or an abortion. The girl in the story sounded like she wanted to go through with having the baby, but the man acted as if it would be better to abort the child. The man acted as if he cared about the girls opinion, but in reality he didn’t. Therefore, in this post I will answer the questions: Does the girl in the story keep the baby? Does she stay in her relationship with the man?, and When have you made a important choice to stay in a relationship or leave a relationship -- OR -- stay or leave a difficult situation? Does the girl in the story keep the baby? Does she stay in her relationship with the man? In this story the girl seems to already have a connection with the baby. Ernest Hemingway used the beaded curtain as an example. The first bead was the girl connected by a string that connected to the second bead which would be the baby. This would be the umbilical cord which connects mother and child. What is getting in the way of the girl having the child is the man in this story. He seems uncertain about having a child. I think by the end of the story the girl realizes she wants to keep the baby with or without the man. When the man comes back from carrying the luggage to the train she doesn't want to speak to the man. Therefore, I think the girl will go through having the baby, and if the man wants to be involved he can if not she will provide for the child herself. When have you made a important choice to stay in a relationship or leave a relationship -- OR -- stay or leave a difficult situation? A time I made an important decision was when I decided to quit my job. One gorgeous fall day I was sitting in my science class at Cardinal O’Hara High School when I received a text message from my boss to call him immediately after I got out of school. I could only imagine what he wanted, but I assumed it was because I requested not to work tuesday’s because I was failing my anatomy class and needed more time to study on tuesdays for the quizzes every wednesday. The last bell of the day rang and I picked up my phone to call him as I was walking to my car. As soon as he answered I could feel the anger in his voice. He Said “As soon as you clock in today come straight to my office we need to talk about your request to not work tuesdays. This is absolutely ridiculous see you when you get here.” Before I could get a word in he hung up. I was in disbelief that a business owner talked to me that way and what was suppose to be a professional hung up. I quickly called my dad and told him about the situation. He was mad that my boss had me as upset as I was over asking off one day out of seven days a week. I got home, and my dad was sitting on the couch waiting for me. I quickly went upstairs and put my work clothes on. I ran back downstairs to leave and my dad stopped me wanting to talk about the meeting I was going to have with my boss. He told me to stand up for myself, and if he couldn’t help me out with giving me tuesdays off to put in my two weeks. My dad made me realize school was more important then a part time job. I finally got to work clocked myself in and headed to my bosses office. I knocked on the door walked in and sat down. My boss asked “So what's the reason you need off tuesdays?” I replied and explained to him that I was failing my anatomy class at school and needed more time to put into studying. As soon as I finished my sentence he quickly answered “So you're telling me your school work is more important than my business.” I was astonished that he had asked me that, and at this point I was so angry with the way I was being talked to. Therefore, I said to him “yes it is actually, and since that seems to be a problem to you I’m putting in my two weeks.” With a stunned look on his face I got up and walked out of his office, and finished up my two weeks. This was a difficult situation for me because I loved my job, but it wasn’t worth getting reprimanded for something so small. |
